Sometimes I can write a piece in a matter of hours or days. But, when writer's block is at its worst, it can take weeks to hammer something out. Writer's flow is either there or it isn't.
My latest article about native bees has thrown me into a Hoover Dam block. Instead of writing, I find myself wandering into the garden to take more and more bee photos to "gear myself up". It hasn't helped with the block, but I have lots of pretty pictures to show for it, and I have discovered a wealth of unique bee species visiting my garden that had previously evaded my radar.
As my deadline nears, the soothing practice of sitting and watching my garden flowers for new bee species to photograph has become replaced with anxiety. But, for what it's worth, here are some of the better shots I've gotten:
